Crowdfunding for N219 Aircraft Development , Why Not?

1 Billion rupiahs is a big amount of money and can be developed to start a new investment product. There is a national trend under Jokowi’s government to develop infrastructure, enhance the invention of renewable energy, and boosts digital business transformation through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). It has to be synergized in so many ways so that the purpose can be achieved overarchingly. 

Many middle-income people are willing to contribute to this development through investing directly. Similar to P2P lending, I initiate using my 1 B rupiahs to create online mutual investment funds or crowdfunding that provides a list of preferences towards various infrastructure development plans in Indonesia. It will not only benefit the investors but also expedite the development that is currently or will operate in Indonesia.

The collective development funds should be strictly supervised under financial authority in Indonesia, OJK. And it will be a great deal if the new product initiative can be conducted under cooperation with well-known partners such as BAPPENAS RI, ASEAN Secretariat, Asian Development Bank, and other development institutions to seek strategic development infrastructure that can invite middle-income investors easily with an environmentally friendly method.

For example, one of the ongoing projects is the development of N219 Turboprop aircraft that have the purpose to commute citizens in rural areas from one region to another with a low-cost budget. Based on online feeds, the enthusiasm of Indonesian citizens is surprisingly eager to have their own indigenous aircraft for a better purpose, however, they have limitations of contribution. In order to engage with middle-income investors, online development crowdfunding can be one of the financing schemes to support the development of the aircraft along with the infrastructure in the rural area. From this idea, it will not only reach the goal of the indigenous aircraft existence, but it also assists the improvement of the living standards of the people in the rural areas through faster and cheaper logistic supports, and also help to identify an appropriate regional business in rural areas.

As Indonesia becomes an emerging country in Southeast Asia, it is important to take notice that middle earners can be a prospected crowdfunding market as low to middle budget investors. The target of investment should also engage with developing issues such as local content invention, water sanitation, internet accessibility in rural areas, acceleration of school infrastructure and system and etc. The advantage of this scheme also has a multiplier effect, one of them is to open up new job opportunities, investment literacy, technology enhancement, and another goodwill purpose to all across Indonesian territory.
